Health Data Privacy

Long Haul treats Apple Health and fitness information as sensitive data. This page explains the limited ways it is used.

Effective July 13, 2026  ·  Version 1.0
Health access is optional. Long Haul requests it only when you use a feature that needs it, and iOS lets you approve each supported data type separately.

1. Health and fitness data involved

Depending on the features you enable and the permissions you grant, Long Haul may read or write:

  • heart rate and heart-rate samples during a ride;
  • age, height, and weight used for ride calculations;
  • cycling workout status, duration, distance, energy, and related ride metrics;
  • workout records written to Apple Health after a completed ride; and
  • live workout and heart-rate information exchanged with the Long Haul Apple Watch app.

2. How Long Haul uses health data

  • displaying heart rate and heart-rate zones during and after a ride;
  • estimating calories and other ride metrics;
  • synchronizing an active cycling workout between iPhone and Apple Watch;
  • saving a cycling workout to Apple Health when you authorize it; and
  • troubleshooting a health feature when you choose to contact support.

Long Haul is a fitness tool, not a medical device. Health and ride metrics are estimates and must not be used for diagnosis, treatment, or emergency decisions.

3. What we never do with health data

Long Haul does not sell HealthKit data, use it for advertising, build advertising profiles from it, or disclose it to data brokers.
  • We do not use HealthKit information for targeted advertising or marketing.
  • We do not combine HealthKit information with third-party advertising identifiers.
  • We do not request write access for data types unrelated to cycling features.
  • We do not attempt to bypass Apple Health permissions or read a data type you did not authorize.

4. You control access

You can review or revoke Long Haul's permissions at any time in the Health app or in iOS Settings → Privacy & Security → Health. Revoking access stops future reads or writes for that data type but does not automatically delete workouts already saved in Apple Health.

You can view and delete Health records through Apple's Health app. You can also remove Long Haul ride summaries through supported controls in the App and request account deletion through our Data Deletion page.

5. Storage and sharing

  • Apple Health records are managed by HealthKit and Apple's device-level protections.
  • Ride summaries derived from authorized sensor or health information may be stored with your ride history when you save or synchronize a ride.
  • We disclose health-related information only when necessary to provide a feature you request, when you explicitly direct a system share, or when legally required.
  • Service providers are not permitted to use Long Haul health information for their own advertising.

For the broader handling of account, location, route, and service data, read the Long Haul Privacy Policy.
